The Story: Rachel typically cares for her mother at home, but wanted to take a vacation with her husband for their 20th wedding anniversary. She visited GreenField Health & Rehabilitation Center and learned about our short-term respite care services, caring staff and safe environment, giving her peace of mind to go ahead and book that trip to Europe.
Right up to the minute Brian and I got in line to board our plane to Rome, I was terrified about mom. You know that feeling you have when you go on a trip – the one where you feel like you forgot something important? That’s how I felt with my mom. But it turned out that I didn’t have any reason to worry.
The GreenFields’ highly trained, expert staff helped mom the whole time, keeping her on the same schedule we had at home. They made sure that she took her medications and helped her with her daily needs. She was as well cared for there as she would have been with us at home.
She also had a chance to chat with many other residents on campus and share stories of their youth. She found out there were a few other people there who also went to Lancaster schools around the same time she did. Mom had a great time with them talking about their old teachers and who they knew and sharing memories of their lives since those bygone days.
I was worried about leaving mom with anyone besides me, but with The GreenFields, I had no reason to worry. Mom received great care while we were abroad, and Brian and I are already dreaming about taking our next trip and making more memories of our own together.
