Vestibular Rehab

Meet Jordan Thompson, PT, DPT, AIB-VRC

Jordan was born and raised in Olean, NY, but he stayed in Buffalo following his graduation from college due to his love for the area. Jordan earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Daemen College in 2018. Post-graduation, Jordan has dedicated himself to treating the elderly population across various practice settings including outpatient, long term care, sub-acute, and in a managerial capacity. Jordan has also dedicated himself to furthering his education and filling a need in the area by obtaining both a Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification and a Concussion Management Certification through the American Institute of Balance. These certifications provide Jordan with additional knowledge and skills needed to treat patients with vestibular and balance disorders including individuals who suffer from such ailments as vertigo and traumatic brain injuries. Jordan is also a credentialed Dementia Capable Care Specialist through the Crisis Prevention Institute. This certification provides Jordan with additional knowledge and skills to identify people with possible dementia and work effectively with those individuals and their family members/caregivers. When he is not hard at work, Jordan enjoys being active and spending time with his friends, his wonderful wife, Kelsey, and his two adorable kitties, Luna and Atlas.

Vestibular Therapy Services

More than 10 million patients visit their physicians every year due to dizziness. Dizziness can occur at any age and can last for seconds, minutes or hours. In some cases, dizziness may lead to loss of balance, falls and the inability to complete daily tasks.

Vestibular therapy is a specialized exercise-based program designed by a physical therapist that helps to improve balance, coordination and reduces issues related to dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation may be an optimal course of treatment for those suffering from vertigo (BPPV), post-concussion syndrome, multiple sclerosis, whiplash injury, migraines, Meniere’s disease, stroke or brain injury.

Vestibular Therapy at The GreenFields

Treating motion sensitivities, dizziness and brain injuries

At The GreenFields, vestibular therapy services are offered in our state-of-the art outpatient rehabilitation and wellness center where we treat all types of diagnoses ranging from motion sensitivity to traumatic brain injuries.

Dizziness is not normal, but is highly treatable with an individualized care plan. Our therapists evaluate each patient to pinpoint the source of their symptoms and will conduct a thorough medical history review and customize a plan based on individual needs. We specialize in balance retraining and work one-on-one with patients to help them achieve their goals. The best clinical outcomes come from using a combination of function-focused treatment and patient-centered, compassionate care.

Often times, vestibular therapy is the only treatment that may be needed to manage or alleviate symptoms.  We recommend contacting your physician to request a prescription for physical therapy – those who integrate rehabilitation services early are shown to have better clinical outcomes than those who do not.
