Winter Greetings To You!
It’s hard to believe that this year is winding down. What a glorious fall we had! But now snow is starting to fall and Christmas is almost here. A wonderful season when we reflect on the past year and welcome advent and the birth of Jesus.
Our Guild was very busy baking for the Holiday Bazaar, which we participated in on November 12. We can’t thank you enough for your help in baking, working, and supporting us that day! It was a terrific event and I hope many of you had a chance to come out and enjoy it!
Our November meeting was an enjoyable event. Our lunch was superb, with a turkey sandwich, mashed sweet potatoes with secret added ingredients, and a fruit cup. Yum! Lovely trays of dessert were provided by the ladies from St. John’s in Lancaster, and we thank them for baking. We then proceeded with devotions, led by Pastor Kirk Langset. He reminded us that Jesus is with us as we reflect on our surroundings, and that Jesus can quell our fears and proclaim the Gospel of peace. We then welcomed our speaker, Christina Abt. We listened to her story, as well as the story of her book, Crown Hill. She was a remarkable speaker that kept us all enthralled. I don’t consider myself a reader, per say, but I enjoyed her talk so much that I had to buy the book. What a wonderful afternoon, complete with a basket raffle too!
We are now busy working on the gifts for our residents at The GreenFields for Christmas. We are also putting the final touches on our annual Christmas Celebration at First Trinity Lutheran Church, which I hope you will all be able to attend. It will be a fun event with singing, baskets, door and table prizes, and of course, some joyous fellowship.
Starting in February we will be changing the date for calling in reservations for each meeting. It will truly help the kitchen staff at The GreenFields. I know we all dislike change, but Niagara Lutheran Health System has always been gracious in accommodating us, so it makes sense to try our best to accommodate them in return. The RSVP date will be one full week prior to our meeting, so please be sure to call in your reservation by noon on the Thursday before our meeting. Thank you for your future cooperation. We will be reminding you in the next newsletter as well.
I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving, and we will see you at our Christmas Celebration!
