Judy’s Corner: A Letter from our Guild President – September 2016

Judys CornerFall Greetings to all,

That’s right. Summer is over and we have already had our first day of Fall. Time to wake up to those crisp mornings and the leaves changing color and dropping from the trees. It’s a beautiful time of the year. God has blessed us with four seasons that are equally wonderful in their own way. I know I’m happy here in this area to experience all of the seasons.

We were glad to see a good turnout for our September meeting. Thank you to the ladies from Abiding Savior for the delicious cakes and brownies. And who would have thought that a sandwich of turkey and bacon on cinnamon raisin bread would taste so good! It was a great lunch! It was nice to have Vicar Roger Griffiths come and give devotions for us. He had us feel the compassion of God’s love and the joy and happiness He gives us. We then enjoyed the music of many great singers. Gary Quatrani did an awesome job singing songs from famous artists that we all knew. Many, including myself, sang along or at least mouthed the words, of well known favorites by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, and Al Jolson. Wonderful afternoon!

Our next meeting will be our card workshop. We would like to thank Carol Iannello for leading our card workshops in the past. She always did a wonderful job and we appreciate her. She has now passed the torch to Gail Petschke and Norma Pickard. We are also going to celebrate Oktoberfest that day with a menu I’m sure you’ll like. German potato salad, sausage, and sauerkraut sound yummy to me! We may also have a speaker for that meeting. Please join us for card making, fellowship, and a great lunch. We will have sign up sheets for upcoming events. The Guild will be participating in the Holiday Bazaar held at The GreenFields on November 12. We will have a sign up sheet for baking or helping the day of the bazaar. If you cannot bring your goodies early morning to the event, we will see about drop off points or pick ups for you on Friday. We have done exceptionally well in the past with the sale of all those tasty items. We will also be having basket raffles at both our November and December meetings. Please consider creating one by yourself or as a group. In November we are planning on having an antique dealer come for our program. Perhaps a basket centered around an antique item might be a fun way to create one. Sign up sheets for the baskets will be available that day also. Thank you, as always, for you participation and help for these events.

I let the cat out of the bag in that we are working on a Kentucky Derby Party for our May fundraiser. Start thinking about a hat to wear! Many ideas are being worked on to make it a really fun day.

It was brought to our attention that we may have to change RSVP dates for our meetings. October’s RSVP date will stay the same, but please watch out for RSVP date changes for future meetings. Call in your reservation as normal by October 16, and hope to see you on October 20!
