The GreenFields Continuing Care Community, Just Like Home

07.20.2016 004

The four buildings that make up GreenField Terrace consist of 12 private and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, and residents share common areas such as living and dining spaces. The houses surround a beautifully landscaped and secure courtyard where residents can garden and enjoy the outdoors without risk of wandering.

Asa part of our 2015 Leadership Council campaign, GreenField Terrace is currently undergoing construction to connect the four buildings to one another. Previous to this, staff and residents had to go out in the weather elements when they wanted to go from one Terrace building to another to care for residents, attend worship services, etc.

The GreenField Terrace provides residents with memory care and enhanced assisted living in a less structured, household-style environment that is “just like home.” It offers a warm and inviting environment where the focus is on the needs of the residents, not rigid schedules or procedures. Our “Care Partners,” including nurses and health care aides, attend to the personal care needs of each individual. Generous supporters of our 2012 Leadership Council campaign helped make GreenField Terrace possible.

Our 2016 Leadership Council campaign will help support initiatives such as the plan to introduce a new household living environment once again, this time to the GreenField Health & Rehabilitation Center (GHRC). Following the success of household-style living at GreenField Terrace, plans are now being made for the construction of an additional twenty-four new long-term care rooms onto GHRC, designed in the household-style. Each resident will have a private bedroom and bathroom, and the new household will feature a home-style kitchen and dining room, a beautiful living room with a fireplace, and a private sitting area.

Research has shown that care-giving in such a household-style setting can result in transformational benefits for residents, including reduced levels of depression, agitation, and weight loss. Increased satisfaction among family members with the care their loved ones are receiving is also anticipated.

Residents of the new household-style addition will benefit physically, emotionally, and spiritually from being cared for in this type of environment.
