GreenField Manor independent living residents celebrated America at 250 with a very special prayer and worship service on Friday, July 3, 2026. Chaplain Deborah Greatrix-Tyler and Father Emil Swiatek led the service. Following the service, our residents showed off their semiquincentennial spirit with a parade.
“2026 will mark the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the foundational document of the revolution that occurred between 1775 and 1783 and resulted in the creation of the United States of America,” according to the New York State 250th Commemoration Commission. “What is now the State of New York played an immense and vital role in both the Revolutionary Era and the subsequent 250 years of American history.”
As I ❤️ NY notes, “One-third of the Revolutionary War’s battles were fought in New York and today that history is preserved and interpreted at forts, battlefields and historic sites across the state. Walk in the footsteps of those who fought at Fort Ticonderoga or in the Battles of Saratoga, learn the stories of the daring women of the resistance and brave soldiers–including those of color–who joined the fight for American freedom from colonial rule, step inside the homes and headquarters of founding fathers, climb the steps of Federal Hall, where the first presidential inauguration took place, and more.”
