Monday, November 12, 1:30 p.m.: RFK’s Road to the 1968 Presidential Campaign
We’ll look back at the RFK, the “runt” of the Kennedy boys who would become the President’s closest political and domestic adviser. We’ll look at what shaped Bobby’s character, his role in brother Jack’s political life, his relationship with LBJ, and why he decided to run against Johnson in the 1968 Presidential campaign, with a special focus on the 82 days of that campaign. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his assassination.
Instructor: Len Lenihan, former Democratic commissioner, Erie County Board of Election; and Norman Mineo, retired banker and history enthusiast
Friday, November 16, 1:30 p.m.: Arthritis: A Real Pain in the Joints
Arthritis is one of the most common causes of pain in adults, especially in the hips and knees. In fact, an estimated 350 million people worldwide live with some form of arthritis. If you are one of these people, don’t worry, we’ve got your back! (And hips and knees). We’ll discuss both surgical and non-surgical treatment options to help regain function and get you back to doing what you love!
Presented By: Dr. Matthew Mann, Surgeon, Excelsior Orthopaedics
Tuesday, November 20, 1:30 p.m.: Journalism Under Fire: Why It Must Prevail
The president and his political allies contend journalism is the enemy of the people, and great swaths of the public distrust the news their information providers report in newspapers, on television or on the radio. Lee Coppola will discuss why that happens, why it’s misplaced and why journalism is one of the pillars of democracy.
Instructor: Lee Coppola, retired Dean, School of Journalism
